Sea view hotel in Penzance, Cornwall

I’ve been a fan of Artist Residence properties for a while now and have stayed in their Oxfordshire and Brighton hotels too. But Artist Residence Penzance especially had been on my list for a LONG time so when I was planning my trip at the start of this year, I couldn’t resist their 3-for-2 nights offer (one of the best perks for booking off-season!) for my March trip. I think this bolthole in Penzance might just be my favourite of their all their properties so far. It’s the perfect spot for exploring Penzance without a car and also nearby beautiful spots by train, such as St. Ives and Pedn Vounder Beach.

Our room was very kindly upgraded to The Lookout aka the best in the house with the most gorgeous sea views and a balcony.

Things you should know about your stay at Artist Residence Penzance

  • Price - rooms start from £145 per night. Keep an eye out for special offers that the hotel is running (e.g. I got 3-for-2 during off-season months). Breakfast isn’t included in the room rate so we decided to switch between eating out and at the hotel.

  • Room variety - the hotel has a huge variety from snug double rooms, comfy luxe, loft rooms, The Lookout suite or even a separate cottage that sleeps up to 6 people! A lot of the rooms have gorgeous bathtubs too.

  • In your room - our room was very kindly upgraded to The Lookout, which I would highly recommend for longer stays. It comes with a separate lounge area, kitchenette, dining table, log burner and a luxury copper bathtub. In all other rooms, you’ll also find a TV, a Roberts digital radio, classic tea/coffee facilities and Bramley bath products. I would add that the TV was not a smart TV so we couldn’t cast our phones to the TV in the evenings.

  • Hotel facilities - the hotel has lots of communal spaces e.g. a cosy bar and lounge with a huge fireplace, a cafe space, outdoor terrace and restaurant.

  • Getting there - the hotel is easily accessible by public transport as you can get the train to Penzance train station and then it’s a short (but steep) walk to the hotel.

  • Nearby - the hotel is in the perfect spot to explore by foot or public transport. It’s a 10 minute’s walk from the seafront and iconic Jubilee Pool. There are lots of lovely independent shops, vintage shops and cafes in Penzance. You could also catch the bus to nearby fishing village, Mousehole or catch the train to St. Ives.
