The best spa hotel in the Lake District

The first time I stayed at Another Place was in 2018 and I’ve been longing to go back since. I finally made it happen last year and I’m so glad I did. You can probably already tell which direction this post is heading in…it’s easily one of my favourite hotels in the UK. Another Place is a beautiful hotel and spa (with THE most incredible pool) in the Lake District and definitely one you'll want to save as a treat!

Things you should know about your stay at Another Place in the Lake District

  • Price - if you book as far in advance as possible, you’ll likely get the best rate. Rooms start from around £200 per night for their standard rooms in off-peak season so this will likely be higher during busier times of the year.

  • Room variety - since my last stay, the hotel have launched SO many new types of rooms that there’s something for everyone. Take your pick from a shepherd’s hut, cottage, treehouse or a standard hotel room.

  • In your room - we stayed in a “Better” room both times (second trip was with a media discount) that looked over Ullswater and it was an absolute dream to wake up in. Overall, the room was spacious and the interiors were contemporary throughout. The mini fridge (and a decent one too) was a welcome addition as it meant we could stock up on lunch for the following day’s adventure.

  • Hotel facilities - Swim Club is definitely the facility we made the most use of — I’m sure it’s hard for anyone to resist that pool and hot tub! But the hotel has lots more to do too. For example, you can book outdoorsy activities in advance such as paddleboarding, wild swims, group hiking etc. or you can cosy up with a book in their lounge. The hotel also has two restaurants (one more casual, one which is fancier).

  • Getting there - the hotel is easily accessible by public transport as you can get the train to Penrith and then it’s a short taxi ride from the station to the hotel. You can also drive as the hotel has plenty of parking.

  • Nearby - whilst the hotel itself is easy to get to by public transport, it’s much easier to explore the Lakes by car. We hired a car from Enterprise in Kendal and drove from there to Penrith (approx. 30 mins).
