Last year gave me the opportunity to pursue a passion I’ve adored for as long as I can remember. Having spent the best part of 10 years studying (from GCSEs to my professional-level qualifications), I always found an excuse to push it down my “priority list”. Even making an annual New Years resolution for a few years to “take and share more photos” didn’t quite do the trick. So, despite all the challenges and misery endured last year, 2020 allowed me to refocus and rediscover my love and excitement for taking photos.

I’ve always wanted a platform to document my photography even if the sole purpose was to act as a personal “digital diary”. But (nearly) 2,000 followers later, it feels like it’s a bit bigger than that! Whilst Instagram has provided me with the space to build this, January feels like the perfect time to set new intentions and further challenge myself creatively.

The idea behind the name of my blog, 'The Simple Explorer' initially came from my appreciation of exploring the beautiful parts of the UK, many of which I think are SO worth talking about. Over the past year, I also think it’s evolved to mean adopting a lifestyle that appreciates the everyday joys.

Overall, despite the bleak Winter ahead of us, I feel a sense of hope. I feel excited to continue building the above, starting with this website. I hope to experience and share more and inspire others to do the same. And finally, I very much realise that I write this from a position of privilege and I feel incredibly grateful for that. I feel lucky I’m still employed, I’m healthy and I’ve even managed to squeeze in a few staycations between the changing restrictions.

Thank you for reading if you made it this far and I hope you’re as excited for this journey as much as I am!
