cockshott point - lake district

If you have heard of the Lake District or have visited, you’ll most likely have heard of Windermere. It’s one of the most accessible parts of the Lakes and one that I always head back to as a base for my trip. But with the rise of the staycation, it’s quickly become one of the most popular parts too.

On my last trip, I discovered a spot that’s tucked away from the hustle and bustle and is a very short walk from Bowness-on-Windermere. So, if you’re looking for a moment of tranquility in the busiest part of the Lakes, head to Cockshott Point. Weather permitting - you can expect pink skies and complete stillness at dusk. Dreamy.

To get here from Bowness Pier - head towards Glebe Road and keep following the road past Boaters Bar. Just after this, you’ll see a wooden signpost to Cockshott Point. Follow the path through the gates and you will arrive! I recommend ordering takeaway pizza from Sourdough Pizza Co in Ambleside so that you can indulge with a view.
